Twitter

Before class started I was a twitter user.  I did not however fully understand everything about it.  I really enjoyed learning about hashtags, and tweetdeck.  I think tweetdeck is a great thing.  All you can do with twitter is at your finger tips.  I feel that I will continue to use twitter.  I can get more information from the edchats and want to set up a mystery skype with another school.  I think all teachers should be using Twitter.

I really like following Bill Maher, John Boehner, and the White House.  All three of these people give very different view points and I get a lot of good pot stirring information for my classroom.  I have used twitter mainly for getting news and staying current in the world issues.

Because I love basketball so much I follow a lot of college coaches also.  I love to hear what they are thinking about before games or post game thoughts.  I also have been able to bounce questions off some of them.  Only two have responded to my questions but that is better then none.

Richard Byrne's Blog

Wow what an amazing blog.  He has wonderful instructional videos that explain how to do everything he talks about.  I looked at his DropITTOme site and found that to be very interesting.  Another site that really caught my eye was the one about keeping parents engaged in the classroom using text.  I like the idea of parents signing up to receive a text from the teacher.  I think it could really benefit some students in helping them study harder.

As far as making a blog that would be like this for my students it would really take sometime.  Richard has done some really nice work and you can tell that he spends a lot of time on it.  I think that all teachers could do this and most should do this but they just don't have the time to do it.  I think, however, blogging in the classroom is a wonderful idea and a great tool to get kids more involved.

Animoto Video.

Hope this works.  I had problems linking this because I made my blog for school and it will not share here.

I was not a big fan of Animoto.  We use IMovie in our school and I think I like it a lot better.  I do like the idea of sharing videos better this way but for my students use I will be sticking to IMovie.
